Making mums queen for day

ANYONE looking to treat their mum this Mother’s Day need look no further than Woodhorn Museum.

Staff at the Ashington museum have been busy preparing for the Queen for a Day event, on Saturday, April 2, and Sunday, April 3.

Inspired by the Memories of Coal Queens exhibition currently running at the museum, there will be a real girly feel to activities complete with cupcakes, tea and bunting.

Ladies will also be able to relax and enjoy a mini-massage from Kenzai Holistics or a mini-makeover from Simply Beautiful Treatments.

Younger visitors will have their own Mothers Day activities with the chance to make a gorgeous rosette.

Event organiser Liz Ritson said: “We are really looking forward to this special weekend, it always has such a lovely atmosphere, and it’s a wonderful thing to be able to celebrate the most important ladies in our lives.

“But if the men are feeling left out, then maybe it’s a brilliant opportunity for them to find something else on site. Our great Videogame Nation exhibition is open, and with its many super games from the last 30 odd years to play as well as some fascinating facts, they are guaranteed a fantastic day out too.”

The Queen for a Day events run from noon until 3pm, and the museum and exhibitions are open 10am until 5pm.
