Orchestra from twin town heads to region

AN ORCHESTRA from Cramlington’s German twin town will be in the region next week to perform two free concerts.

Ratingen Wind Orchestra will arrive on Sunday, October 30, and will enjoy a six-day stay in Northumberland, where they will undertake various trips as part of their culture visit.

The band will perform in The Hub at Cramlington Learning Village, on Monday, October 31, at 7pm.

And on Wednesday, November 2, the orchestra will take to the stage at Morpeth Corn Exchange after a day visiting the town, for their second free performance.

The conductor is Paul Sevenich, who is the leader of the music school in Ratingen.

Cramlington town councillor Barrie Crowther said: “This is great for Cramlington as we are bringing 51 people into our town to see what we have on offer, and we are forging links with our twin town.

“We are honoured as the mayor of Ratingen, Harald Birkencamp, will also be on the trip.”
