An Ashington-based band are hoping to make waves in the local music scene by headlining a Newcastle gig.
Pop punk rockers LoGOz are making plans for their concert at the 02 Academy.
And, in addition, their frontman Peesh has been pursuing a solo project to release a new single every week this year.
The project, entitled AcoustiCalender, sees Peesh release a new track every Monday on LoGoz’s website.
It is then available for seven days, before being replaced by the next single the following week.
The project, also known as 52, is now just over half-way through, and last week saw the release of an album entitled 13.1, which, as the name suggests, comprises the first 13 tracks of Peesh’s mammoth undertaking.
As the venture continues, the ongoing tracks will be released as albums under the progressive names 13.2, 13.3 and 13.4.
Subjects covered in the music so far include the demise of vinyl records in ‘The Death of the 7’ Single’, the longevity of Punk Rockers in ‘Old Punks Never Die’, and childhood memories in ‘Skool Daze’.
The songs cover everything from wry and witty observations on life and the world to deeply personal memories, appearing to come straight from the heart.
Peesh views the acoustic project as complementary to LoGOz, and several of the AcoustiCalendar songs already recorded are being considered to join the band’s live set list.
The project has also grown into a number of live shows, including recent gigs in Berwick and Blyth.
And the band will soon perform in Ashington, Jesmond and Whitley Bay, amongst others. Fans can check their website for further information.
LoGOz will be performing at the Newcastle O2 Academy on September 18.
