Chris Curry, managing director of Persimmon Homes North East, said: “We are excited to be getting work underway and we are equally pleased to be creating jobs in construction and the supply chain which brings a boost to Northumberland’s economy and the region overall.”

In addition to construction on the 68-acre site, the developer will be making a £5,878,983 investment in education, health, transport and the environment through Section 106 payments.

Chris added: “As a responsible builder, whenever we start working within a community, we look at ways to support local people and infrastructure and deliver affordable homes.

“These Section 106 contributions are required as part of the planning process and, in the case of Woodhorn Meadows, this will contribute towards improving and enhancing local life and protecting the coastline.”

The Home Builders’ Federation estimates 4.3 jobs are created for every new home built, both directly in the construction industry and through the supply chain, which is also a support to the local economy.

Debbie Zaben, sales director for Persimmon Homes North East, said: “Woodhorn Meadows will offer a range of two, three and four-bedroom properties to suit modern-day requirements.

“We currently have a selection of three and four-bedroom homes available from £152,950 and we have a number of incentives and schemes, including part exchange, to help get people moving to Woodhorn Meadows.

“The development has a great deal to offer and is close to Wansbeck Hospital excellent transport links to the nearby towns of Morpeth and Blyth as well as the city of Newcastle.”
