Bucks Fizz became one of the UK’s biggest pop acts after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 with their famous skirt-ripping dance routine.

Their song, Making Your Mind Up, went to number one in nine countries and was followed by hit singles including My Camera Never Lies and Land of Make Believe.

Now, more than 30 years on, the original members of Bucks Fizz – Cheryl Baker, Jay Aston and Mike Nolan – are still ripping skirts off to cheers from fans old and new.

And on Saturday, October 1, at 8pm, they will be on stage at the Phoenix Theatre, Blyth.

The band regularly appear at festivals and 80s events around the country and their appearance at Blyth is part of a major UK tour entitled The Make Believe Tour following the sell out success of 2015’s, Paradise Regained.

Cheryl, Mike and Jay, with Bobby McVay, promise a show as energetic, youthful and as dazzling today as it was back in the 80s. The fun-filled harmonies, high energy dance routines, and even Cheryl and Jay’s legs, are still in enviable shape. The skirts come off and the smiles are still blazing.

Tickets cost £20 and £19 on 01670 367228.
