A new Cramlington care home has welcomed its first resident after its official opening.
Cramlington House, which provides specialist care and respite for people living with dementia, welcomed Peggy Martin to her new home.
The 89-year-old moved to the 63-bed development near Cramlington railway station after suffering a number of falls and a deteriorating memory.
Prior to moving to the home, chosen by her nephews Michael and Raymond Martin, Peggy had lived in the same house in Morpeth for more than 75 years.
Michael, who lives in Cramlington, said: “We were really impressed with the new care home and the facilities and level of care provided.
“Peggy has always loved getting her hair done once a week at the local salon so the fact that there’s a salon at Cramlington House is a real bonus.”
Cramlington House general manager Linda Gallon said: “It’s absolutely wonderful to now be officially open and welcoming our first residents.”
Cramlington House is operated by Craig Healthcare.
