A new creative career for Jayne
Jayne Stafford is delighted with how things are going so far after moving into a career that sees her encouraging children and adults to get creative.
She started a Blyth franchise of The Creation Station at the end of November – its business mantra is to ‘help unleash the wonder within, through fun and educational arts and crafts, classes, parties, events and products’.
Sessions for young children, which follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, are held at the Albion Activity Centre.
On Fridays, baby discovery classes for the six-to-15-months age range include songs, movement and hands-on activities to help parents interact with their child.
Little Explorers, 15- months-to-five years, takes place on Tuesdays and there is an after school Create Club for children aged five to 11 at Morpeth Road Primary Academy that includes various themed arts and crafts.
In addition, there is a fun, monthly session for adults to learn new skills, or re-learn old ones, at Bruno’s Wine and Cocktail Bar.
Jayne said: “I had been thinking about changing career for a little while and when I decided to look into franchises, The Creation Station was an option that was too good to turn down.
“I’ve enjoyed organising arts and crafts activities as a Brownie leader – the girls always find a way of making me smile – and there was no other franchise for this company in Northumberland.
“I’m delighted with how it has gone so far and the potential for growth is an exciting prospect.
“Little Explorers are weekly-themed classes in areas such as colours and textures and they help the children to develop a range of skills before they start school.
“I will run a different programme each term at the Morpeth Road Create Club and the Creative Crafters session for adults is proving popular, there is a free drink and nibbles on arrival.
“I’m also looking to start an autism-friendly class and I’ve contacted care and nursing homes in the local area with a view to running craft activities for the residents.”
