A palace party reward for air cadet

Matthew Booth, of the 2522 Bedlington Air Cadet Squadron, enjoyed an unforgettable day earlier this month as he attended the Queen’s garden party at Buckingham Palace, hosted by the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall.

The 19-year-old Cadet Warrant Officer (CWO) was invited by the Duchess of Northumberland and the Lord Lieutenant’s Office in recognition of his service as a Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for 2017.

As well as the party, CWO Booth and his proud parents, pictured, visited some of the war memorials in the area – including the recently-commissioned Bomber Command memorial – to pay their respects in this very important centenary year for the RAF.

They stayed at the RAF Club in Piccadilly, which is a 10-minute walk from the palace and such a prestigious place to stay as it is steeped in history.
