A road that is partly in Northumberland is the most dangerous in the North East, according to new analysis.
Combining Government statistics, Regtransfers.co.uk has produced a list of the 50 most dangerous roads in Britain.
The A193, which starts in Bedlington and goes through to Newcastle, has an accident rate of 2.53 per one million vehicle miles driven.
This makes it 21st in the country and the most dangerous in the North East region on its list.
Part of the road goes through Ronnie Campbell MP’s Blyth Valley constituency.
He said: “The number of deaths on roads is appalling and like any road – especially one this long, it is almost 25 miles – there are blackspots and these should be highlighted to the motorist.
“The blackspots should be a priority and dealt with accordingly.”
The top 10 most dangerous roads in Britain all run through London.
The private number plates dealer also revealed that 1,792 deaths were recorded in road traffic accidents last year, up four per cent on the previous year and the most since 2011.
