ACCESS: Safety is paramount
I write in response to David Norris, of Blyth, regarding access near Blyth Community Hospital, (News Post Leader, February 8).
Mr Norris is quite correct when he says that a cut-through near Blyth Community Hospital has been blocked recently.
And it is a decision that the trust stands behind.
They each had their passenger side window smashed in after getting into their cars and personal belongings snatched; in the last incident a person was injured.
In all cases the perpetrator used the cut-through as a means of escape.
The trust takes the safety of its staff and patients very seriously so it has blocked this route to help prevent a similar occurrence.
The path is not a public right of way.
Whilst we obviously regret any inconvenience caused to those accessing the hospital site, we hope that those needing to do so will be able to make use of the nearby main entrance.
Hopefully, this will avoid anyone else being attacked in the same way.
