CHILDREN can look forward to events designed specially for them in Newbiggin.
Town councillors are to spend about £7,000 on activities during school holidays.
They are commissioning Blyth Valley Arts and Leisure to run summer community sessions costing £3,120 to provide a range of sports for six to ten-year-olds and 11 to 16-year-olds at the sports centre and multi-use games areas.
There will be a school holiday activity programme of at least five sessions over 11 weeks throughout the year, except Christmas.
Costing £2,200, these will be at Central Park, the promenade, the beach, Spital Burn and Spital Estate.
Cyclists will enjoy ten weeks of activities at a cost of £600 to the council.
And entertainment for children will give parents a break to enjoy the RNLI Harbour Day.
A grant of £300 is being made by Newbiggin Town Council for the entertainment at the event on July 31.
