All drivers need to respect parking requirements

Whilst shopping at Manor Walks in Cramlington, I noticed two elderly couples parking in parent and child parking bays both without children.

I pointed the sign out to one lady who said they had parked there as they where unable to find a disabled bay.

I replied that had I parked in a disabled bay with my eight-month-old son because I couldn’t find a family space there would be hell on.

The ‘disabled’ driver then got out his car without needing extra space for a wheelchair or the aid of a stick, so in my opinion could have easily parked in any regular bay.

These bays with extra space are needed by parents with young children and all the equipment that comes with them.

I ask for all drivers, disabled and elderly alike, to be respectful to our parking needs as we are to theirs.
