Star cars will be leading the fun at Ashington Fair Day.

The General Lee from the Dukes of Hazard and Kitt from Knight Rider will both be driving into town for the event on Sunday.

I’m sure there will be something for everyone of all ages on the day and I’d like to encourage residents to turn out and enjoy themselves.

Ely Turnbull, Mayor of Ashington

They will be taking part in the motorcade along West Station Road at 10.15am, ending at Ashington Cricket Club where, in addition to a Real Ale and Cider Festival, there will be a classic car and bike display, and bouncy castle.

A music stage will be set up at Station Bridge, with performances from various bands, including We Steal Flyers and The Hookahs, while the Newbiggin-by-the-Sea Jayess Brass Band will take to the bandstand at 10.30am and the Gladwin Ballet and Stage School will perform throughout the day.

There are also stalls in Wansbeck Square, fairground rides and street entertainment.

The fair, organised by community groups, Ashington Town Council and other partners, runs from 10.30am to 5pm.
