Ambulance service launches recruitment drive for governors
A campaign has been launched to recruit new governors for the North East Ambulance Service.
Governors have an important role in making an NHS foundation trust publicly accountable for the services it provides.
Ashley Winter, chairman of governors at NEAS, said: "Governors bring a valuable perspective and contribution to our activities here at NEAS and importantly, they hold non-executive directors to account for the performance of the board by representing the interests of the public"
The NEAS Council of Governors holds four public meetings each year, where they receive the latest performance reports and have a chance to question the board.
This year there are five governor positions available in the North of Tyne area; three in South of Tyne; three in Durham; and two in Teesside.
The deadline for nominations is September 7, voting will begin on September 22, and the close of poll is October 17. The results will be declared on October 18.
For more information about becoming a governor and how to write a good election statement, two awareness sessions will take place on July 27, at 1pm in Ambulance HQ and at 5.30pm in Darlington Dolphin Centre For details or to book, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0191 4302263.
