An American group dedicated to assisting searches for missing people has lent its support to the hunt for the Northumberland woman who has not been seen since Boxing Day.

A massive effort from the North East community and emergency services has so far failed to find to find 59-year-old Sally Allan, from Errington Road, Darras Hall, Ponteland, who left her home in the early hours of December 26.

Hundreds of volunteers, the police and Mountain Rescue Teams scoured the area around Ponteland before the focus turned to the Quayside in Newcastle, the last confirmed sighting of Sally. Police yesterday released a CCTV footage of her walking alongside the River Tyne behind the Copthorne Hotel towards the Swing Bridge.

Now the search has reached America where the Facebook group Locate the Missing has posted a plea to find Sally and produced a poster that can be printed off and put up around the region.

The Facebook post says: "‪#‎Search4Sally‬ ‪#‎MISSING‬ - Sally Allan (59 yrs.) of ‪#‎Ponteland‬, ‪#‎UK‬, is described as being 5ft 7" tall, slim build, with short silver/grey hair and may be wearing gold-rimmed glasses. She is believed to be wearing pink pyjamas, cream coloured fleece and cream coloured Regatta waterproof anorak.

"Extra officers in the Quayside area are checking cctv to try and trace Sally's movements and would ask that any businesses located around Newcastle Quayside with CCTV capability review their footage from Saturday, December 26, from around 6am on, and contact police if there are any sightings of Mrs Allan

"Anyone with information about where Sally may be should contact Northumbria Police on 101 quoting reference 0258 26/12/15 right away!
