A Falklands veteran is preparing to head back to the South Atlantic island next month to compete in a marathon.
Andy McGregor, from Ashington, participated in the conflict in 1982 when he served as a troop commander in the Royal Engineers.
And when he returned for the 30th anniversary year he decided to sign up for a marathon.
“I thought it was a way to combine my interests and to fundraise for charity causes close to my heart,” he said.
Andy is looking to raise £1,000 to be split between the South Atlantic Medal Association 1982, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, and Seeing is Believing.
