Youngsters from the county have taken part in an annual athletics meeting.
Around 600 year 5 and 6 pupils took part in the Blyth and Bedlington School Sport Programme’s athletics day at Monkton Stadium.
Angela Parsons, School Sports Programme teacher, said: “The Level 2 School Games event is always a highlight on the calendar for schools in the partnership, as reflected in the numbers of pupils involved.
“Running such a huge event would not be possible without the volunteers from Blyth Academy and Medaowdale Acdemy who did a fantastic job on the day taking on a variety of roles, such as ensuring the children got to the correct events at the correct time, measuring, recording and team managers.
“After a fantastic day of sun and sport, the overall winners were Meadowdale Academy who won the trophy in both the Years 5 and 6 events.”
“They now go on to represent the area at the School Games Level 3 competition,” she added.
