Appeal after fence is damaged at site

A fence at a county landmark which opened earlier this year has been damaged.

Officers at Northumbria Police are appealing for information after the damage at the Northumberlandia site.

Police say that sometime between 3pm on Saturday, November 16, and 9am the following day, while the Northumberlandia site at Plessey North Moor was closed, a low fence was scaled and a section was prised back, causing damage.

Officers have been carrying out enquiries in the area and are appealing for witnesses, while extra patrols have been operating to prevent further offences.

Neighbourhood Inspector Dave Morrison said: “The fence was damaged at the Northumberlandia site and we’re carrying out enquiries.

“The landmark has set opening hours and I’d advise people not to visit the site out of hours.

“Extra police patrols are taking place to prevent further offences from taking place.”

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
