Appeal after night-time assault

A 22-year-old woman was assaulted on a footpath known locally as the ‘Black Path’ on Crow Hall Lane in Cramlington.

A man approached the victim at 10.25pm on Thursday, October 6 and after speaking to her, he punched her in the face before making off towards the nearby wooded area.

The woman was shocked and suffered swelling to her face.

The offender is described as wearing dark coloured clothing, with a hooded jacket.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact them.
