Appeal fills 500 boxes

Well done to Lynemouth Community and Friends group on another great effort for the shoebox appeal 2014.

Thanks to all who contributed to this effort, which is led by Sadie Williamson, whether by supporting fundraising events, shopping for box items, knitting hats and gloves or covering and filling the shoeboxes.

A magnificent 550 boxes were completed by the group.

This number rose to a total of 767 boxes from our area with the addition of those prepared by Northumberland Church of England Academy William Leech Campus, Josephine Butler Junior Campus and the Bedlington Salvation Army.

This year these shoeboxes are being transported and distributed by Smile International.

And they recently began their long journey to needy children in Kosovo when they were collected from each site by lorry in November.

Again, grateful thanks to all both young and old, who contributed to this fantastic total.

We are sure that they will indeed put many smiles on young faces.
