A teenager from Ashington is aiming high after being taken on as an apprentice.
Reece Aitman is one of nine jet-setting young people taken on by Dawson & Sanderson at branches across the north east.
The 18-year-old will be at the Ashington outlet while completing two years of study at Hartlepool College of Further Education.
Chris Harrison, sales and marketing director of Dawson & Sanderson, said: “Many of our staff started as apprentices and have progressed through the business often into senior positions
“The partnership with Hartlepool College is fantastic as they have a great track record for developing young people through work-based learning. ”
On completion of the apprenticeship, the young students will graduate as full-time travel consultants with a level two diploma in travel and tourism.
Janet Best, a lecturer in Travel and Tourism at Hartlepool College of Further Education, added: “We are delighted to be working with Dawson & Sanderson once more and the sky is the limit for the new apprentices.
“The first cohort was fantastic and showed a great work ethos and with the support from Dawson & Sanderson, they were able to produce some outstanding work.”
Chris added: “The travel services industry faces many challenges but our new apprentices will be able to take on those challenges as they prepare to become the next generation of travel professionals.”
