Northumberland Community Voluntary Action has been handed a grant of £4,920 to part-fund a post to oversee the work carried out by volunteers with varying abilities at its Seeds to Success horticultural project in Ashington.

The donation was provided by the Discovery Foundation, supported by Santander UK.

Anne Lyall, chief executive officer at the group, formerly known as Wansbeck Centre for Voluntary Service, said: “The grant will help us to support our volunteers to gain transferable skills in horticulture.

“It will improve their health and wellbeing and will also improve self-confidence and motivation.”
