Ashington were 0-19 down after 30 minutes against table topping Acklam but fought back strongly and spent the final 10 minutes of the first half unsuccessfully pressing for a deserved try that didn’t come.

Ashington conceded two quick tries early in the second half and their heads dropped. They then regularly conceded tries throughout the second half to a fitter and stronger Acklam side.

The Northumbrians scored two tries through front forward Jack Rutherford and Greg Henderson, who were probably the pick of the forwards despite being under pressure in the scrum, the home side also gave a debut to young Jordan Miller on the wing.

This week Ash are away to Darlington who are one place below them in the league.
