A Blyth shopping centre has received a top award in recognition of a succesful Christmas campaign.
The Keel Row Shopping Centre won the Community Relations category of the British Council of Shopping Centre’s Annual Purple Apple Marketing Awards, held in London last week.
The centre, won a well renowned Purple Apple Pip for its involvement in the community, with its ‘Give a Gift’ campaign.
The concept, which ran for three weeks, asked shoppers to pick up an extra gift for a child whilst doing their Christmas shopping.
With 157 gifts purchased, local children at St Oswald’s Hospice and North East NSPCC were woken up to a gift to open on Christmas Day.
The prize was the first time the centre has won such a prestigious award.
Centre manager Callum Reid said: “I am thrilled that Keel Row has won a Purple Apple Pip, the evening ended with a glorious win, and I am very proud of the team effort everyone put in up to the running of this fantastic evening.”
The centre was recognised for its efforts to create a campaign which involved the community, and was applauded for its creativity.
