An innovative horticultural project that has benefitted unemployed youngsters across south east Northumberland has won an award.
Northumberland Community Action in Ashington, formerly known as Wansbeck CVS, won the Outstanding Provision of NOCN Learning award at the Celebration of Learning Awards.
The team picking up the award for their Sowing the Seeds to Success horticultural project, which is aimed at younger people who are not in employment, education or training.
The project was hailed a success as it saw all learners achieve a Level 1 Award in Horticulture.
Louise Morritt, chief executive officer of One Awards, said: “One Awards provides quality assured bespoke accreditation, Access to HE Diplomas and NOCN qualifications.
“We started the Celebration of Learning Awards in 2009 because we were so impressed at the determination, commitment and triumphs of learners of all abilities and ages over the years and we wished their achievements to be recognised.”
“All our nominees and winners this year will demonstrate how much of a positive difference learning has made,” she added.
