Gardeners from Seaton Valley rounded off a successful year by celebrating a double hat-trick at the 2013 Northumbria In Bloom awards.

Seaton Sluice (small town) and Holywell (large village) received silver awards, whilst New Hartley (large village) received bronze in this year’s awards at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland.

Holywell Ponds landed a solid gold award for best conservation project, whilst the Old Harley Caravan Park and the Milbourne Arms, Holywell, received silver gilt for their efforts to enhance the appearance of their premises.

Coun Karen Collier, speaking on behalf of Seaton Valley Council, said: “I am delighted that the hard work of local volunteers has been recognised by so many awards.”
