Baby girl airlifted from Bamburgh

A 16-month-old baby was airlifted to hospital after becoming ill while on holiday in north Northumberland.

The girl, who was suffering from a medical condition, was staying at a caravan park near Bamburgh.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service was called to help the North East Ambulance Service at 10.39am yesterday.

The helicopter landed on the cricket pitch at the foot of Bamburgh Castle.

The child was assessed and treated by the doctor-led aircrew before being airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle within 20 minutes, where she arrived in a critical but stable condition.
