Bedlington air cadet is flying high
An air cadet from 2522 (Bedlington) Squadron has been invited to attend a Royal garden party at Buckingham Palace.
Nineteen-year-old Matthew Booth, from Cramlington, has been an air cadet for seven years, achieving many accolades including a silver Duke of Edinburgh award, promotion to cadet warrant officer – the highest cadet rank – and most recently being promoted to the Lord Lieutenant’s cadet.
There is only one cadet for the county who is awarded this position, with their main duty being to escort the Duchess of Northumberland on Royal visits and engagements.
Through this position, the Duchess has nominated Matthew to attend the garden party this spring – where the Queen will be in attendance.
Matthew is hoping to be accepted into the Royal Air Force police.
