A Cramlington football coach has been recognised for his work he does for his local girls’ team.
Ben Roylance has been named a community champion and collected £1,000 – which he will use to buy new football gear for the players at Cramlington Girls Football Club
The cash comes courtesy of the Moor Farm Beefeater Grill restaurant, after Ben, 27, was nominated by his fiancée Claire Walker, 26.
Ben has been working with the Under 15 Girls team for five years. Last season they won both their league and the cup and have once again triumphed in the cup this season .
He was given the award for giving up so much of his time in order to provide an environment where girls can develop their football skills.
Ben said; “To me it’s all about the kids, they put in the hard work on the pitch and are an absolute joy to coach.
“With the money I can now buy top of the range equipment that will hopefully create some more champions.”
Beefeater’s head of marketing Sarah Tinsley said: “We hope being titled a community champion will keep him motivated to continue.”
