Thousands are set to flock to Bedlington next month as a popular event makes its ‘Big’ return.
The Big Event, organised by Bedlington-based charity Leading Link, is in its fourth year and last year attracted more than 3,000 people across the threshold of Attlee Park in Bedlington.
The family fun day is set to take place on Saturday, June 20, between noon and 5pm, with West Bedlington Town council funding the core costs of the event on behalf of the charity.
Jonny Hall, assistant manager of Leading Link, said: “We are absolutely delighted that West Bedlington Town Council have made this incredibly generous contribution to what has become an established community event.
“We have always been humbled by the support of the local councillors, who have never hesitated in providing vital financial support towards our community projects, including previous Big Events, ‘Light up Bedlington week’ and our Summer of Fun activities.”
The event will also feature children’s fun fair rides, a sizzling summer barbecue, an enterprise market of local businesses and organisations and live entertainment on the bandstand all day, including the final of the eighth annual Northumberland’s Got Talent competition.
The charity has also received sponsorship from Phoenix Taxis who will provide a free park and rude bus service on the day, and Northumbrian Water and Warburtons, who have both offered product donations to help keep costs to a minimum.
