Big turnout at fun event

The second fun charity night in memory of a Morpeth resident raised more than £2,400.

Carole Elliott died of cancer in August last year and two months later, her family put together a ‘wear it pink’ event to raise awareness and funds.

They recently organised an even bigger evening of entertainment and activities as part of the Breast Cancer Now initiative and as they had the whole of the indoor area at Ashington Football Club, the attendance was larger than in 2014.

As well as a disco and performances by a comedian and singer, there was a big raffle and a pink-themed tombola and prizes were awarded for the best fancy-dress outfits.

Carole’s son, Dr Mike Wi-lkinson, said: “We’re grateful to those who supported and helped to organise the event.”
