Bike ride to raise charity cash

A charity bike ride will be taking place this weekend in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

Around 15 people will be cycling from Bamburgh Castle to Blyth Bus Station on Sunday, May 5, setting off at 9.30am.

The ride is expected to take around four-and-a-half hours.

Phil Straker, 36, of Bedlington, who organised the event, said: “The charity is not government funded and they rely on the generosity of people from the north east.

“It is a valuable service and you never know when the time may come when you need them.”
