A telegram from the queen made an extra special day for a South Quay care home resident as she celebrated her 100th birthday this week.
Audrey Graham was born in Birkenhead in Merseyside on August 7, 1913, and since then has lived in Whitley Bay, North Shields, Tynemouth and now Blyth.
Audrey attended school at Mansons Academy where she really enjoyed playing tennis.
Although it was always Audrey’s dream to be a hairdresser, she worked in a shop for about 30 years.
Audrey was very proud of her father, who was commended for his work on radar in warships during Second World War.
Audrey has been at South Quay in Blyth since August 1999, and is visited regularly by her son Ken and his wife.
She is having a small party with her family this week.
