Blyth RFC record biggest win of the season over Seaton Carew

Blyth recorded their biggest win of the season which was a lot harder than the score line suggests against fellow strugglers Seaton Carew. The visitors started strongly gaining a lot of possession through their bigger forwards and strong running backs and it came as no suprise when they crashed over between the posts for the first try but missed the easy conversion.Blyth started to work their way back into the game and elected to kick a couple of penalties to the corner but the catch and drive was defended on both occasions. On the third occasion the home side opted for the kick at goal duly converted by Brookes to reduce the arrears to two points.Another penalty in front of the posts was taken quickly allowing centre Heslop to increase Blyth's lead.Yet another penalty by Brookes extended the lead further but the visitors took advantage of a missed tackle to score their second try in the corner.Just before half time another Brookes penalty gave Blyth some breathing space. The home side started the second half much the better side and Broadhead scored the third try to stretch the lead to nine points.Seaton then gifted Blyth a third try when their full back attempted a long pass only to find prop forward Frazer who scored under the post with Brookes adding the extras.Blyth clinched the bonus point fourth try winger, Mackensie crashing over in the corner. the fifth try came from the other winger Frazer who chased a long kick up field, gathered the ball then outpaced the defence.Seaton showed they were not beaten yet with a third try through the forwards making the score 40-17 but Blyth hit back with another try by prop Frazer. In the dying moments the visitors managed a fourth try which gave them a losing bonus point which could prove crucial at the end of the season.
