A high street boozer in Ashington has been transformed in to a pool hall, attracting youngsters from all over south east Northumberland.
Pots and Slots is on Woodhorn Road in the town has been open just three months and has seen players come in from county to play on the supreme pool tables situated across the building.
Owners Shane Otley and Mark Stannage came up with the idea as there was nothing like it in the area, and wanted to give the pool fraternity of Northumberland a base, rather than having to travel outside the county.
Shane said: “It was something that we both had an interest in and something that we thought would be ideal for the community and the local area, and we have had a great response so far.”
Pots and Slots is also opening an Academy for youngsters to develop their talent.
Shane added: “Lots of kids have got talent but they can’t play anywhere.
“With a bit of guidance from the right people they can do really well.”
There is no age restriction with the Academy, and youngsters will be considered on merit when at the club.
With the pub is also 8 Ball Direct, where visitors can buy their cues, cases and balls on site.
The club also broadcasts all major sporting events on big screens and hosts live bands on a night time as part of the entertainment.
