BREXIT: Waiting for response

editorial image

The Brexit debate carried out in your newspaper for the last few years has stuck admirably to the philosophy of your Readers’ Charter, and in a very balanced way.

That is to say it is ‘giving a voice to those who struggle to be heard, as well as those whose profession is crafting an argument’.

Naturally, as both my wife and I are ‘remainers’, we couldn’t always agree with some of the opinions expressed.

However, the only time that we felt angered enough to put pen to paper was on reading a piece by our MP Ronnie Campbell in his regular column, (News Post Leader, March 8).

So saying, we emailed Mr Campbell looking for clarification or justification of his views – or maybe even for inspiration.

We did receive an acknowledgement of receipt of our correspondence to him, but that was it.

It could be, of course, that he’s thinking about it in true Brexit fashion before replying – ie very slowly.
