Howick Coastguard Rescue Team was on patrol yesterday, Sunday, August 16, when Humber Coastguard asked its members to investigate a broken down vessel in Beadnell Bay.
The base requested the team keep a watch on the vessel, which was drifting towards Newton Point, while Seahouses Lifeboat Station launched its inshore lifeboat with a plan to tow the vessel in.

A spokesperson for the Coastguard team said: “Howick were already in the Beadnell area on patrol so were on scene on Beadnell Harbour within two minutes of being tasked.
"An immediate visual was obtained on the vessel and another vessel was identified going to its aid.
"A tow line was established between the two vessels and the lifeboat was then stood down.
