A student has had a date with Royalty after being selected to be a judge in an inaugural award ceremony.
Callum Thompson from The Blyth Academy sixth form was selected to attend the Place2Be ‘Wellbeing in schools Awards’ as a judge.
Callum was invited to London’s Kensington’s Palace where he met HRH Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.
The awards celebrate unsung heroes who make a real difference to the life of their school community through their commitment to children’s emotional wellbeing.
Head of sixth form, Richard Kirkby, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for Callum who’s determination to help and support his peers is reflected in his countless hours of volunteering within several organisations.
“It’s a pleasure to see our students being rewarded for hard work and determination.”
“Callum is an excellent role model and ambassador for The Blyth Academy.
“Within the Sixth Form Callum works as a peer mentor and holds a number of important roles on The Sixth Form student voice forum.”
