BT are supporting the WOW awards again.

BT has given it’s backing to the WOW247 Awards, organised by Johnston Press North East, publishers of the Northumberland Gazette, Morpeth Herald, News Post Leader and Berwick Advertiser.

The awards aim to recognise the places that make Northumberland the best place to live, work and play. And BT has sponsored the Best B&B Award.

Simon Roberson, BT’s regional partnership director for the north east, said: “BT is proud to sponsor the Northumberland WoW247 Awards 2016 for the third year running.

“And personally, I am pleased and proud to support this fantastic event, which recognises and showcases the hard work and achievements of Northumberland businesses.

“As someone who lives and works in the county there will doubtless be many nominees I have heard of, visited and enjoyed, but each year I am amazed to discover some new restaurants to try and B&B’s to recommend to visiting friends, clearly demonstrating that business in Northumberland is thriving.

“BT is responsible for supporting communities and businesses across Northumberland to use the power of communications and technology to help them to thrive and prosper. Our multi-billion pound UK-wide, commercial investment in fibre broadband and our partnership with Northumberland County Council in the iNorthumberland programme has brought the high-speed technology to more than 145,000 homes and businesses across the county. The roll-out continues and there are plans to go further.

“Super-fast fibre broadband offers huge benefits and is helping our local economy to flourish.

“Better, faster communications are helping local restaurants, cafes and visitor attractions use social media more effectively and offer free wi-fi to visiting customers.

“Local food producers, hotels and events can potentially access a global audience, attracting customers or visitors from the length and breadth of the country, and beyond.

“Awards such as this one are vital and an opportunity to celebrate all the talent, potential creativity and diversity that the county has to offer.

“I am looking forward to presenting the B&B of the Year Award on the night and wish all those shortlisted in every category the best of luck.”
