All’s safe and secure at hospital

A state-of-the-art fire and security system has been installed at a Northumberland hospital as part of a contract worth more than £1m.

SPIE Scotshield secured the work for Northumbria Healthcare’s specialist emergency care hospital in Cramlington.

This has been a successful project for the NHS and is serving the people of Northumberland and the North East in general.

It includes a fire alarm linked to more than 400 doors, 14 video intercom systems at ward entrances, strategically-placed intruder alarms across the site, CCTV cameras and a video wall for security.

Northumbria Healthcare facilities maintenance manager Colin Armstrong said: “SPIE have installed a high-tech intelligent fire detection, door access and intruder alarm system to the new emergency care hospital, and secured the maintenance to this equipment for future years.

“This has been a successful project for the NHS and is serving the people of Northumberland and the North East in general.”
