A BAKER’S shop in Blyth is facing an uncertain future now its parent chain is in administration.

Durham-based Peters Cathedral Bakers, trading as Peters Bakery, owns 58 shops in the north east, including one in Regent Street, Blyth.

The family business called in administrator KPMG last week.

The company will continue trading until a buyer can be found, but redundancies are expected.

Joint administrator Mark Firmin said: “We will continue to trade the bakery – which has a state-of-the-art production facility, a 100-strong product range and a loyal workforce – while seeking a buyer and will be assessing and reviewing all aspects of the business.”

The firm has been going since 1966.
