Campaign in appeal for stallholders

Northumberland County Council is once again taking part in the national ‘Love Your Local Market’ campaign.

The council will be offering budding entrepreneurs the chance to trade for £10, aiming to encourage new businesses to take up stalls at markets across the county.

The campaign will run for two weeks from May 14 and aims to provide a national spotlight for markets across the country, enhancing their status within the local community and highlighting the importance they are as community assets.

Anyone can be considered for a trial stall, including high school or college students, new and start-up businesses, to retired people looking for a business interest.

Andy Rutherford, head of highways and neighbourhood services, said: “The Love Your Local Market campaign is a great experience for residents to be part of and the council is pleased to be supporting it for the third year running.

“We are always keen to welcome new traders to our markets and I would encourage anyone who wants to get involved to get in touch.”

The £10 charge covers the pitch, and where the council provides stalls they will be free, and insurance will be covered if relevant details are provided.
