Care home scores with residents

A south east Northumberland care home is celebrating after scoring highly in a national survey of residents.

Scarbrough Court in Cramlington took part in the Your Care Rating survey, where they came out with an overall performance rating (OPR) of 906 out of 1,000.

The nation-wide survey is designed to give residents a voice, putting their care at the heart of understanding how well a home performs.

The Your Care Rating survey results are also a vital tool for families when they are choosing a care home for a loved one, giving them direct feedback on the views of their residents.

Lesley Dawson, home manager at Scarbrough Court, said: “We’re delighted with our results from the 2013 Your Care Rating survey as it demonstrates how fulfilled our residents are.

“All of our scores across the four main themes are high and it just goes to show that the reality of day-to-day life in a care home such as ours is very good, something which is often at odds with the public’s perception.

“We still want to get even better and the results give us crucial feedback on where we can improve.

“When choosing a home, families should always ask if it takes part in the Your Care Rating survey, as it is the best guide to show what residents actually think about the care they receive.”
