Pet salon is the top dog

A pet grooming business in the county has become the first in Tyne and Wear and Northumberland to achieve the gold standard for groomers.

The K9 Shine Pet Grooming Centre in Seaton Delaval, run by Ruth Webb, has been awarded the new Quality Assurance Standard, designed to help cat and dog owners find a reputable groomer.

Groomers have to pass an inspection and testing process to ensure their knowledge, health and safety procedures, business practices and animal welfare policies.

Nigel Baker, chief executive of the Pet Industry Federation, said: “Our inspectors were impressed with the salon and, due to the qualifications of their staff, K9 Shine receives the top star rating.”
