A BLYTH company has been awarded a top manufacturing accolade by leading industry experts.
Draeger Safety UK Ltd, based at the town’s Riverside Business Park, won the overall Institution of Mechanical Engineers Award at last week’s Manufacturing Excellence Awards.
The company also won the Financial Management category and the Professional Engineering Award for Logistics and Operational Efficiency.
At Draeger’s Blyth plant, the 400 staff develop and manufacture a range of specialist safety solutions including breathing apparatus and emergency escape equipment.
It also it produces electronic components and assembles and distributes fire and gas detection systems in the UK and overseas.
Philippa Oldham, who was on the judging panel, said: “The company’s focus on customer service and quality was what impressed the judges, along with the management of the company’s on site processes and procedures which we judged to be first-class.
“Draeger Safety UK is a truly spectacular company which illustrates that manufacturing is very much alive and thriving in Northumberland and the UK more widely.”
