A Northumberland start-up has had a flurry of success after setting up a high quality scented candle brand just over a year ago, securing ten stockists across the country.
After forming only 12 months ago, NorthburN Home Fragrances now sell their hand-crafted candles within Eleven Boutique in Cramlington, and nine other retail outlets in cities such as Ipswich, Knaresborough and Hull.
Each of the fragrances produced by NorthburN is custom blended by the mother-daughter duo that has now turned their hobby into a fulltime occupation.
Mum Wendy, previously a beauty therapist is managing the brand and daughter Laura, a fashion stylist, is the creative director.
Wendy said: “We are delighted with the success we’ve had so far. Paul Brown from Business Northumberland was a great help as he understood our vision and encouraged us to test out different avenues for the business.
“This led us to sourcing information from the likes of UKTI which has been of great benefit to us.”
The brand has had a lot of interest from companies across the UK and abroad due to its social media presence which has led to the couple seeking advice from the UK Trade and Investment initiative. UKTI were able to offer assistance to the duo in the form of trading internationally which has helped them with their future plans to ship products abroad to add to their already growing domestic market.
Paul Brown, Business Northumberland business advisor, said: “Wendy and Laura have a series of fantastic products which are now really starting to be noticed.
“The ability to trade overseas after only existing for a number of months is a wonderful step forward.”
