An Ashington building society will be getting a new look for the New Year.
Newcastle Building Society will create an enhanced, open plan branch in Station Road as part of a multi-million pound investment programme across the network.
The refurbished branch will provide customers with better access to services, information and advice, as well as additional space for transactions.
Stuart Miller, customer director of Newcastle Building Society, said: “While many financial institutions are closing branches across the region, the society remains fully committed to maintaining and enhancing a modern branch network that sits right at the heart of our communities.
“Our branch investment programme is designed to ensure our customers have access to the high quality services and facilities that they expect from a modern financial institution.”
The branch will close at 1pm this Friday, with a view to welcoming customers back in February.
Stuart added: “Our Morpeth and Cramlington branches are available to serve Ashington customers while refurbishment work is ongoing, and while we are sorry for any inconvenience that the temporary closure of the branch might cause, we think our customers will very much like what they see when it reopens.”
A community room also forms part of the new design, which will provide a free space in which local people can hold meetings and events.
