Call for witnesses after Northumberland crash which killed pensioner and left man seriously injured

At 11am on Saturday, September 5, police received a report of a collision between a blue Ford C Max and a silver Renault Clio near Weldon Bridge, on the A697 south of Longframlington.
The 76-year-old driver of the Clio, David Henderson from Blyth, was sadly pronounced as dead at the scene and the 60-year-old male driver of the Ford was hospitalised and received treatment for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Hide AdAn investigation into the incident was immediately launched with officers asking for any witnesses to come forward and share any information or dashcam footage.
Northumbria Police has now issued another urgent appeal in the hopes of tracing anyone who had been travelling southbound on the A697, between Longframlington and Longhorsey, or was near Weldon Bridge shortly before the incident.
Sergeant Matt Sykes of Northumbria Police Motor Patrols team, said: “Our investigation into this tragic collision remains ongoing we are now re-issuing our appeal for information.
“This was a very serious collision which killed one man and left another seriously injured and we are asking for anyone with information who hasn’t yet come forward to get in touch.
