Girl guides from Blyth enjoyed a taste of outdoor life at a recent international summer camp.

Youngsters from the newly formed guide unit, which meets at St Cuthbert’s Church in Cowpen Road, embarked on a week-long adventure at the Giggles International Camp in the Yorkshire Dales.

Organised by Girlguiding North East England, the event included day trips, a ride on the Settle and Carlisle Railway, kayaking, sailing, wind surfing, caving, climbing and swimming as well as music, drama and archery.

They were joined by guiding friends from across the world, including Australia, Ghana, Singapore and the Philippines.
