Cancer charity looks for more local support

Macmillan Cancer Support is appealing to the Northumberland public for help to make sure no one in the local area faces cancer alone.

In the Northumberland area, Macmillan provides local support to cancer patients, their carers, families and friends and guides people through the system, supporting them every step of the way.

Jane Curry, fundraising manager for the area, will be in Ashington on Tuesday, April 29, to meet people who are interested in supporting Macmillan.

Jane said: “There are two million people living with cancer in the UK today and, as more people live longer with their cancer, this number is set to grow.

“The needs of people affected by cancer are not fully met today, let alone tomorrow, so Macmillan must increase its support for people affected by cancer.

“Right now, we can only reach one in three people who need our help, which is why we vitally need your support.

“All the money you raise will go towards helping us maintain and develop services in the local area.”

Jane will be at the Nursery Park Medical Centre on Tuesday, April 29, between 10am and 4pm or can be contacted on 07809 554 959 or email
